About The Event
Hiroya Tsukamoto is an innovative guitarist and composer who fuses folk, jazz, and world music. Born and raised in Japan, in 2000 he received a scholarship to Berklee College of music and came to the U.S.
Tsukamoto’s instrumental abilities are breathtaking and astounding, but his performances are much more than that. He has the unique capability of engaging with his audience thru a personable and genuine approach, transfixing his listeners, almost transcending his capabilities as a guitarist. Hiroya plays with effortless skill on guitar, with a repertoire that will have you traveling the world and experiencing new sounds with his own compositions.
Tsukamoto headlines concerts throughout the U.S. and internationally, including at the Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC and the United Nations, and for Japanese National Television. Hiroya won 2nd place in the International Finger Style Guitar Championship in 2018.
UPDATE: Hiroya has, again, taken 2nd place in the 2022 International Finger Style Guitar Championship held in September!
Tickets: $20 in Advance, $25 at the Door
Hiroya will also teach an acoustic fingerstyle guitar workshop at The Stissing Center earlier in the afternoon, at 3:00 PM. He’ll be demonstrating fingerpicking techniques and chords… and more. Space is limited. Join the workshop for $35 for 75 minutes.
