About The Event
We’re thrilled to welcome pop-up film event series Boondocks Film Society to the Stissing Center for a very special event built around the 2007 film WAITRESS that will benefit The Adrienne Shelly Foundation (link: https://adrienneshellyfoundation.org/) – a nonprofit started to honor the film’s late director, and to support women in film.
The event will include Boondocks' signature happy hour with a performance by Waitress Soundtrack contributing artist and mystery-shrouded area rockabilly outfit Slink Moss & the Unfinish'd Trio, as well as film-inspired food, locally sourced adult beverages and much more – followed by a screening of the film. Attendees will also receive an artist-designed commemorative poster.
You can expect a distinctive and delectable evening of entertainment that doubles an opportunity to support the important work of the Adrienne Shelly Foundation, a nonprofit with local connections.
Whether you are familiar with Waitress, or Adrienne Shelly's acting and directorial work, this is an evening not to be missed. Waitress is a 2007 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Adrienne Shelly, starring Keri Russell as a young woman trapped in a small town and an abusive marriage, who faces an unwanted pregnancy while working as a waitress. The film debuted at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and went into limited theatrical release in the US on May 2, 2007. It is the basis for the Tony-nominated musical Waitress. Shelly's supporting role is her final film appearance before her death.
