Event
Information
In 1983, comedian Richard Lewis followed Nurit Koppel into a bodega on Eighth Avenue, and they became instant best friends.
Apologies Necessary is a deeply personal, sharply funny one-woman show written and performed by Nurit Koppel, chronicling her extraordinary bond with Richard Lewis and the winding roads their lives took. Along the way, Richard’s best friend - yes, that Larry David - pops up to offer his signature commentary on everything from babies on planes to cookie brands and sports obsessions.
Nurit Koppel is an accomplished screenwriter and performer with an MFA from Columbia University’s Film School, where she studied under Milos Forman and Frank Daniel. She sold her first TV pitch STARWARZ to Joe Roth and her first feature THE KING AND ME to Archer Grey and Bona Fide Productions with Robert De Niro and Jennifer Aniston attached. An Amazon pilot THE ETHICIST (based on the New York Times column) followed, with Michael Costigan and Griffin Dunne producing as well as VIRGINS for BBCA. Nurit has developed with David Kohan, Sarah Condon, Charles Wessler, Ben Silverman, Teri Weinberg, and Aaron Kaplan. Her new show VINTAGE is currently in development.
Join us in our downstairs space for an intimate staged reading of Apologies Necessary, a moving, laugh-out-loud reflection on friendship, fame, and forgiveness.
