Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie - at the Moviehouse in Millerton

Event
Information

This special screening of the new documentary Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie at the Moviehouse in Millerton is a benefit to raise money to upgrade Stissing Center’s film screening equipment. We are delighted to follow the screening with a Q&A with the film’s director, David Bushell, moderated by Ronnybrook Farm’s Kate Osofsky.

Cheech and Chong’s enduring partnership begins like the start of a classic set-up, “What happens when a Chicano kid from LA’s South Central meets a half-Chinese Motown musician at a strip club in Vancouver, Canada?” and ends in one of the funniest, weirdest, and wildest punchlines in comedy history. The two ultimately reinvented the comic duo – redefining the genre for a new era. Bursting onto the scene in the early 1970s, Cheech and Chong brought drugs, sex and rock’n’roll into the oeuvre, transforming them into stand-up-icons, counterculture rock stars and Hollywood legends. Multicultural, accessible, and explosively funny, their irreverent stoner humor has translated into sold-out concerts, platinum-selling records, and box-office-smashing films. The two have reached professional and personal heights well beyond their wildest dreams, while offering a comedic rite of passage to multiple generations of adoring fans. How did Cheech & Chong, two crazed and cosmic characters, ignite the imaginations of a global audience and maintain their relevance through the last 50 years (and counting) of pop culture?

The first ever fully authorized Cheech & Chong documentary takes you on a revealing, poignant and hilarious journey into the lives and partnership of one of the greatest comic duos of all time.
