Clarion Concerts presents Tommy Mesa & JP Jofre

Event
Information

Clarion Concerts proudly presents an extraordinary evening with Cuban-American cellist Dr. Tommy Mesa and Argentine bandoneon master JP Jofre, two world-class artists whose collaboration brings together the soulful resonance of the cello with the fiery elegance of the bandoneon.

Mesa, one of the most charismatic performers of his generation and recipient of Lincoln Center’s 2025 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Sphinx Organization’s Medal of Excellence, has appeared with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, The Cleveland Orchestra, and The Philadelphia Orchestra, while premiering and recording groundbreaking new works such as Jessie Montgomery’s cello concerto Divided on Deutsche Grammophon.

Jofre, a 2022 GRAMMY-nominated composer celebrated by The New York Times as one of today’s leading bandoneonists, has performed his music at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and prestigious festivals worldwide, with recordings by ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Together, Mesa and Jofre create an exquisite musical dialogue, blending classical mastery with Latin passion in a performance that promises to be both electrifying and deeply moving.
