'The Maker and The Muse' new musical play reading written by Schuyler Press

Event
Information

A staged reading of the new original musical, The Maker and the Muse, follows a young, disillusioned writer who feels untethered from the present and longs for a time and place that felt more authentic, gritty, and alive. Drawn by this longing, she slips into a surreal, musical imagining of 1960s New York, stepping into the life of Patti Smith during the pivotal year she met Robert Mapplethorpe. Through this imagined past, the writer experiences a world of raw passion and artistic awakening, discovering timeless truths about love, creativity, and the courage to embrace her own voice. The cast includes: Schuyler Iona Press as the Writer/Patti, Vincent Agnello as Robert, Tim Rosko as Man, Sydney Crutcher as Woman and Ian Yan will be providing accompaniment on piano.

Although this piece is inspired by the lives of two iconic artists, all of the music and art depicted throughout is completely original. We encourage audiences to allow the lines between reality and imagination to blur and to step into the chaotic, beautiful world of creation and connection. The Maker and the Muse is a love letter to anyone who has ever felt lost in their pursuit of meaning and found their way through the courage to create. Let’s reimagine the past, rediscover the present and celebrate the timeless power of art together.
