About The Event

Featuring live theatre organ accompaniment by John Baratta. During World War I, two young men who are in love with the same woman, become fighter pilots. David Armstrong (Richard Arlen) and Jack Powell (Charles "Buddy" Rogers) leave behind Mary Preston (Clara Bow), a local girl who is in love with David but committed to Jack, and join the military to fly American fighter planes. As newly minted pilots, they are dispatched to France where they take part in one of the war's climactic air battles. Meanwhile, Mary anxiously awaits the safe return of both men. Unfortunately, one of them pays the ultimate price for his bravery. Wings is best known today as the winner of the first Academy Award for Best Picture and the only silent film to ever win this award!
